AQUATICA MONOCHROMATICUS
Inspired by her printmaking studies in etching, Hanlon ventured to use super fine pen as a tool to create texture and value at large scale. Aquatica Monochromaticus is heavily influenced by Hanlon’s lifelong fascination with the ecology of the York River and The Chesapeake Bay, where she and her family have spent summers for four generations.
Using super fine line, Hanlon creates subtle modeling of her large drawings.
At first glance, these large works on paper are easily confused for watercolor, but upon closer examination, they reveal technique rich with line, texture and detail.
